2:35 PM: Good afternoon, this is Kluis Commodity Advisors with your closing grain comments for Wednesday, October 14, 2025.
To Do: We had no new recommendations today. We recommend keeping all offers in place.
What I think: The grains closed mostly lower today on another choppy day of trade with corn and soybeans lower and wheat mixed. The higher US dollar and fund selling put pressure on the grains today. We did see a large sale of soybeans announced to China this morning. The lows from last Friday continue to hold for December corn and November soybeans. The bull spreads were working today, which can signal the lows in these markets are being put in. The CPI report this morning was hotter than expected, showing inflation at 3.7%. This had the US dollar rising to its highest level since April 2025 and had the stock market lower as well. Crude oil was up nearly $1 a barrel today as attacks continue to occur in the Strait of Hormuz.
What I’m watching: Monitor the upcoming inflation reports and how they affect the US dollar.
Today’s markets:
December Corn: The trading range was 6 cents. The market closed down 2 cents at $4.81. The support for December corn sits at $4.70 and resistance is $4.88.
November Soybeans: The trading range was 19 cents. The November contract closed down 6 cents at $12.77. Support is at $12.69 while resistance is up at $12.98.
December Wheat: The trading range was 13 cents. The Chicago market closed up 4 cents, Minneapolis was down 3 cents, and KC was up 3 cents on the day. The support for KC wheat is $7.03 with resistance at $7.25.
Outside markets: The US dollar index at this time is up .38 points at 102.56, crude oil is up 93 cents a barrel at $95.07, the Dow is down 95 points at 51,575 and gold is down by $53 an ounce at $4,124.
