US-China Trade Talks

Our team is keeping their eyes on US-China relations this week. Here’s what we’re waiting for:

We’ll be watching to see if the US-China trade talks are extended this week. The current schedule is for US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to continue meetings in China February 14-15.  If the talks extend into the weekend or resume early next week in the US, then it will signal that progress is being made. President Trump will not announce he is agreeing to meet with Chinese Premier Xi until the framework of an agreement is in place because it reduces the ability to negotiate for the US dealmakers.
