Revenue Management

This week:  Key weeks to sell each month, and key weeks to avoid

I have watched a short-term market cycle in the grain markets that works mainly because speculators are forced out late in the month when a futures contract goes into delivery. The pattern I watch for is for higher prices into the second and third week of the month. After that, prices bottom out the last two business days of the month or the first business day of the next month. When I look at the dates that the grain markets have bottomed over the last several years, I see weeks of August 31 and October 31 as the weeks to avoid.
