I am watching the extended weather forecasts to see the duration of the heat ridge and how far east the ridge moves. The European model shows the heat dome moving west and southwest into Colorado and New Mexico in the first week of August. The GFS weather model projects hot and dry in the western and northern Corn Belt through August 7.
