Soybean Volatility

Soybean volatility could increase sharply as the US/China trade dispute escalates. The White House Press Secretary announced that a 104% additional tariff went into effect yesterday after China failed to remove its retaliatory measures. The tariff will start being collected on April 9. This adds another layer of uncertainty to the soybean market. Keep an eye on the bull spreads in corn and soybeans; they tend to show up when demand is strong, even when prices are choppy.
