Corn Mature

It is worth noting that the “Corn Mature” section of the Monday afternoon Crop Progress report was reported at 54% nationally, compared to the 44% five-year average and 38% last year. In other words, we are 10 points above the five-year average. There are large differences in major producing states: Illinois 70% this year vs 25% last year; Iowa 63% this year vs 39% last year; Minnesota 60% this year vs 19% last year. Is this confirming the crop ran out of water and was forced to mature early in these states?
